Lake Rest Cabins is located in the Northern Highland State Forest. The Northern Highland State Forest is 223,000 acres and the largest state forest in Wisconsin. It is also part of the Chequamagon National Forest which spans 857,000 acres and has over 800 lakes and 600 miles of streams and rivers.

Area flowages include the Rainbow, Flambeau and Turtle.

Area bike trails include Bear Skin Hiawatha State Trail which runs between Woodruff and Tomahawk. The Clear Lake/Boulder Junction bike trail is a beautiful paved biking trail that runs through the Clear Lake, Firefly, and Trout Lake campgrounds and is about 13 miles between Clear Lake and Boulder Junction. Recent additions include paved trails to Sayner and St. Germain.

There are  lots of hiking trails within a 10 mile radius of Lake Rest Cabins. 

Ninety miles to the north of Lake Rest Cabins is the Apostle Island Lake shore on Lake Superior, located in Bayfield, Wisconsin.

Golfing awaits you just minutes from the cabins. Trout Lake Golf Club is just 7 miles north on Hwy 51. St. Germain has a great course on  70 west, less than 15 minutes away.
